A Sweet Treat
"That’ll be all, thanks, Sam." Fred placed a few coins on the countertop and took the bowl of vanilla ice-cream that was slid across the counter towards him. Fred had finally managed to catch a break from dancing rehearsals for his next film, and it was a relief for him to be able to relax and have a little bit of time for himself. He never really was one to stuff himself with food - thus explaining why he was so darn skinny - but he had to have at least one bowl of ice-cream every day if he wanted to be in a good mood.
The ice-cream parlor was nearly empty, except for a few people chatting in a corner, and Fred liked that peace and quiet. He ate slowly as his mind wandered to several things - what he was going to do with Ginger that night, how to fend off Kate’s advances (as had become routine almost every night), and most importantly, the disappearances. No one else had vanished over the past week - which was good, but they needed to find those that were missing, too. Fred lost himself in those thoughts, and as such, he barely noticed the presence of someone else when he turned to get off the stool and walked right into this other person.
"Oh- pardon me, I… I wasn’t paying attention."
